What You’ll Do in This Role
- Provide direct instruction in Braille reading and writing to students with visual impairments
- Adapt classroom materials into accessible formats using Braille and assistive technology
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, special education teams, and families to support access to the general curriculum
- Conduct assessments and contribute to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for students on your caseload
- Promote student independence in academic, daily living, and mobility skills as appropriate
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Education with a focus on Visual Impairment or equivalent certification
- Valid state certification as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI)
- Proficiency in Braille instruction and the use of assistive technology for visually impaired learners
- Previous experience in a school-based setting is preferred but not required
- Strong communication and collaboration skills, with a passion for equitable education
