Description:
Cardiac OR Surgical Technologist Schedule Details • 3x12.0 hour shifts • 36 or 48 hours per week • DEN rotation • Weekends, holidays and on call per unit need Job Duties • Work in Adult Cardiac OR caring for a wide variety of patients • Handle CABG's, TAVI's and Heart Failure cases (VAD's, ECMO, Artificial Heart and Heart Transplants) • Use multidisciplinary approach to care for patients of all ages • Provide technical knowledge in preparing instruments, equipment and supplies for surgical procedures • Assist the surgical team from the scrub position during an operation • Maintain proper care and handling of instruments • Facilitate room turnover between cases • Maintain sterile technique and safe handling of sharps • Perform surgical counts as per hospital policy • Demonstrate proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under direction of a registered nurse Job Requirements • NBSTSA Certification or 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technician • Two (2) years of recent experience in a cardiac OR • Must have 2 years recent experience in a cardiac operation room • Able to scrub and circulate Certification Requirements • BLS (American Heart Association ONLY) Additional Skills Requirements • Tech License (NY License ONLY) • BLS Certification (American Heart Association ONLY) • Two (2) Years Experience • OR experience in a level 1 trauma preferred and able to scrub preferred • 2 years recent experience in a cardiac operation room
