Description:
Cardiac OR Surgical Technologist Shift Details
- 3x12-hour shifts
- 36 or 48 hours per week
- DEN rotation
- Weekends, holidays, and on call per unit need
- This Adult Cardiac OR cares for a wide variety of patients, including CABG, TAVI, and Heart Failure cases (VAD, ECMO, Artificial Heart, and Heart Transplants)
- Uses a multidisciplinary approach to care for patients of all ages
- Provides technical knowledge in preparing instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgical procedures
- Assists the surgical team from the scrub position during operations
- Responsible for proper care and handling of instruments
- Facilitates room turnover between cases
- Maintains sterile technique, safe handling of sharps, and performance of surgical counts as per hospital policy
- Demonstrates proper handling of solutions and pharmacologic agents under direction of a registered nurse
- NBSTSA Certification or 10 years of experience as a Surgical Technician
- Two (2) years of recent experience in a cardiac OR
- Able to scrub and circulate
- BLS — American Heart Association ONLY
- NY License — Required
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association ONLY) — Required
- Two (2) years of experience — Required
- Operating room experience in a Level 1 Trauma — Highly Desired
- Two (2) years of recent experience in a cardiac operating room — Required
- Able to scrub — Required
