Description:
Pediatric MRI Technologist Shift Details
- Schedule: Monday-Friday, 1:00 PM - 9:30 PM
- Some scheduling flexibility required based on unit needs
- Holiday coverage required per unit needs
- On Call: None
- Seeking an MRI Technologist to join a Pediatric imaging team
- Must hold an associate degree in magnetic resonance imaging or radiology
- Certification from the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is a plus
- Must be comfortable scanning neonates through age 18 and provide age-appropriate care
- Must be familiar with medical terminology
- Must be able to stand for extended periods
Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Maintain a clean and safe scanning facility
- Coordinate with physicians to provide diagnostic imaging
- Prepare patients for scans and explain the procedure to help them feel comfortable
- Insert IVs when necessary for the test — IVs are not placed at this facility
- Document all procedures while maintaining the confidentiality of patient information
- Perform patient care tasks as needed
- Adhere to all MRI safety policies and guidelines
- Adjust scanning parameters to accommodate a variety of patient ages
- Properly screen and prepare the patient for scanning
- Identify contraindications for safe scanning
- Independently determine when a scan must be stopped due to motion and sedation/anesthesia is needed
- Minimum two (2) years of MRI Technologist experience
- Siemens scanner experience — required to be considered
- ARRT certification
- NYS Rad Tech License — candidates without this license at time of submission will be considered, but it must be obtained prior to start
- BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) only
- Level 1 Trauma Center experience
- Minimum 6 months of pediatric experience
