Location: San Antonio, TX
Schedule: Full-Time | 40 Hours per Week | Monday–Friday | Flexible 8-Hour Shifts

Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Physician to provide medical care for adult patients residing in a long-term care setting in San Antonio, Texas. This is an excellent opportunity for a physician who enjoys building long-term relationships with patients while working in a structured Monday-Friday schedule.

You'll provide comprehensive primary medical care, conduct routine evaluations, respond to medical concerns, and collaborate closely with an interdisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Schedule
  • Full-time, 40 hours per week
  • Monday-Friday
  • Flexible 8-hour shifts available
  • Immediate start upon completion of onboarding requirements
  • Minimum 2-month assignment with extension potential
On-Call Responsibilities
  • Home call one evening per week (approximately 5 calls)
  • One weekend of home call per month (Friday evening through Monday morning, averaging approximately 25 calls)
What You'll Do
  • Provide comprehensive primary medical care for adult long-term care residents
  • Perform face-to-face patient evaluations and ongoing medical assessments
  • Develop and manage treatment plans
  • Respond to medical emergencies and urgent patient needs
  • Complete annual physicals, quarterly documentation, and required clinical notes
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and care planning
  • Round on assigned patients each morning
  • Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care
Patient Population
  • Adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities
  • Residential long-term care setting
  • Average daily patient volume of 1–2 patients
  • Manage a panel of approximately 25 long-term care residents
Qualifications
  • Active Texas Medical License (required)
  • Board-eligible or board-certified in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
  • Active DEA registration
  • Current American Heart Association (AHA) CPR certification
  • Ability to obtain hospital privileges, if required
  • Ability to successfully complete drug screening, fingerprinting, and onboarding requirements
  • Excellent communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills
