Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Long-Term Care | Full-Time Evenings
Shift Details
- Full-time evenings: 5x7.5 schedule (37.5 hours per week)
- Requires every weekend availability
- Facility aims to schedule two consecutive days off each week
- All contracts must run through the holiday season
Required Credentials & Experience
- NYS Nursing Assistant Certification (required)
- BLS certification — AHA or RQI accepted only
- Minimum one (1) year of previous Long-Term Care (LTC) experience
- Must have been licensed for a minimum of one (1) year
- High School Diploma or GED required
Position Overview
- Performs direct and indirect designated resident care under the direction of licensed nursing personnel, within the scope of practice as defined by the certification
- Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit
- Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span
- Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs
- Provides care to adult and geriatric patient groups
Job Functions Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Meets resident ADL needs as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures within a safe and comfortable environment
- Responsibilities include hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting needs, turning/positioning, and skin care
- Documentation completed per protocol
- Maintains resident environment and safety as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures
- Responsibilities include answering call lights and alarms promptly, provision of safety mats and low beds, and restraint use under the direction of Nursing
- Maintains cleanliness of the unit and supports behavior and fall prevention
- Ensures appropriate use of equipment and monitors for malfunctioning equipment
- Documentation completed per protocol
- Meets resident nutritional needs as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures
- Responsibilities include meal delivery, tray preparation, adaptive equipment, feeding, and nourishments
- Resident preferences and choices shall be honored
- Documentation completed per protocol
- Meets resident rehabilitative (restorative and maintenance) needs as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures
- Responsibilities include range of motion, ambulation, transfers, proper body alignment, and use of assistive devices
- Documentation completed per protocol
- Resident rights, refusals, and concerns are reported to the Charge and/or Supervising Nurse in a timely fashion in accordance with policies and procedures
- Changes in resident physical, emotional, and psychosocial status are identified and reported to the Charge Nurse promptly
- Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated
- Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues
Required Skills & Qualifications Summary
- NYS Nursing Assistant Certification and BLS — minimum one (1) year
- One (1) year of experience in an LTC or CNA capacity — minimum one (1) year
