Description:

Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) - Full Time Evenings | Long-Term Care
Schedule & Hours
  • Full Time Evenings
  • 5x7.5 shifts per week — 37.5 hours/week
  • Every other weekend (EOW) and Holiday coverage required
  • Must be able to start full shift orientation on a Tuesday or Thursday

Required Credentials & Experience
  • NYS Nursing Assistant (NA) Certification required
  • BLS certification required — AHA or RQI certifications only
  • Must be licensed for a minimum of one (1) year
  • One (1) year of previous Long-Term Care (LTC) or CNA experience required

Position Overview
  • Performs direct and indirect designated resident care under the direction of licensed nursing personnel, within the scope of practice as defined by the certification
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span
  • Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs
  • Provides care to adult and geriatric patient groups

Job Functions Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
  • Resident ADL needs are met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures within a safe and comfortable environment
  • Includes hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting needs, turning/positioning, skin care, and related tasks
  • Documentation completed per protocol
Environment & Safety
  • Resident environment and safety maintained as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Includes answering call lights and alarms promptly
  • Provision of safety mats and low beds
  • Restraint use under the direction of Nursing
  • Maintaining cleanliness of unit
  • Behavior and fall prevention
  • Appropriate use of and monitoring for malfunctioning equipment
  • Documentation completed per protocol
Nutritional Needs
  • Resident nutritional needs met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Includes meal delivery, tray preparation, adaptive equipment, feeding, and nourishments
  • Resident preferences and choices shall be honored
  • Documentation completed per protocol
Rehabilitative (Restorative & Maintenance) Needs
  • Resident rehabilitative needs met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Includes range of motion, ambulation, transfers, proper body alignment, and use of assistive devices
  • Documentation completed per protocol
Resident Rights & Status Changes
  • Resident rights, refusals, and concerns are reported to Charge and/or Supervising Nurse in a timely fashion in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Changes in resident physical, emotional, and psychosocial status are identified and reported to the Charge Nurse promptly

Occupational Exposure
  • Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated
  • Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues

Required Skills
  • NYS Nursing Assistant Certification and BLS — Required — minimum 1 year
  • One (1) year of experience in LTC or CNA capacity — Required — minimum 1 year
