Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) - Part Time Evenings | Long-Term Care
Shift Details
- Part Time Evenings
- Every Other Weekend (EOW) required
- Holiday coverage required
- 3 x 8.0-hour shifts
- 24 hours per week (2nd shift / 3rd shift rotational) or 24 hours
- All contracts must run through the holiday season
- Must be able to start on a Tuesday or Thursday for full shift orientation
Required Credentials & Experience
- NYS Nursing Assistant Certification required
- BLS certification required (AHA or RQI certifications only)
- Minimum one (1) year of previous Long-Term Care (LTC) experience
- Must have been licensed for at least one (1) year
Position Overview
- Under the direction of licensed nursing personnel, performs direct and indirect designated resident care within the scope of practice as defined by the certification
- Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit
- Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span
- Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient's age-specific requirements
- Provides care to adult and geriatric patient groups
Job Functions Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Resident ADL needs are met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures within a safe and comfortable environment
- Responsibilities include hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting needs, turning/positioning, and skin care
- Documentation completed per protocol
- Resident environment and safety maintained as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures
- Responsibilities include answering call lights and alarms promptly, provision of safety mats and low beds, and restraint use under the direction of Nursing
- Maintaining cleanliness of the unit, behavior and fall prevention, appropriate use of equipment, and monitoring for malfunctioning equipment
- Documentation completed per protocol
- Resident nutritional needs met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures
- Responsibilities include meal delivery, tray preparation, adaptive equipment, feeding, and nourishments
- Resident preferences and choices shall be honored
- Documentation completed per protocol
- Resident rehabilitative (restorative and maintenance) needs met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures
- Responsibilities include range of motion, ambulation, transfers, proper body alignment, and use of assistive devices
- Documentation completed per protocol
- Resident rights, refusals, and concerns reported to Charge and/or Supervising Nurse in a timely fashion in accordance with policies and procedures
- Changes in resident physical, emotional, and psychosocial status identified and reported to the Charge Nurse promptly
Occupational Exposure
- Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated
- Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues
Required Skills
- NYS Nursing Assistant Certification - Required - Minimum 1 year
- One (1) year of experience in a LTC or CNA capacity - Required - Minimum 1 year
