Description:

Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Part Time | Long-Term Care
Shift Details
  • Part-time day or night shifts, scheduled as needed by facility
  • Every other weekend (EOW) and holiday coverage required
  • 3 x 7.5-hour shifts
  • 2-shift/3-shift rotational schedule or 24 hours per week
  • Must be able to start full-shift orientation on a Tuesday or Thursday

Required Qualifications
  • NYS Nursing Assistant Certification
  • BLS certification (AHA or RQI accepted)
  • Minimum one (1) year of previous long-term care (LTC) experience
  • Must have been licensed for at least one (1) year

Position Overview
  • Under the direction of licensed nursing personnel, performs direct and indirect designated resident care within the scope of practice as defined by the certification
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span
  • Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret the appropriate information needed to identify each patient's requirements relative to his or her age-specific needs
  • Provides care to adult and geriatric patient groups

Job Functions Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
  • Resident ADL needs are met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures within a safe and comfortable environment
  • ADL responsibilities include: hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting needs, turning/positioning, skin care, and related tasks
  • Documentation completed per protocol
Environment & Safety
  • Resident environment and safety maintained as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Responsibilities include: answering call lights and alarms promptly, provision of safety mats and low beds, restraint use under the direction of nursing, maintaining cleanliness of unit, behavior and fall prevention, and appropriate use of and monitoring for malfunctioning equipment
  • Documentation completed per protocol
Nutritional Needs
  • Resident nutritional needs met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Responsibilities include: meal delivery, tray preparation, adaptive equipment, feeding, and nourishments
  • Resident preferences and choices shall be honored
  • Documentation completed per protocol
Rehabilitative Care
  • Resident rehabilitative (restorative and maintenance) needs met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Responsibilities include: range of motion, ambulation, transfers, proper body alignment, and use of assistive devices
  • Documentation completed per protocol
Resident Rights & Reporting
  • Resident rights, refusals, and concerns are reported to the Charge and/or Supervising Nurse in a timely fashion in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Changes in resident physical, emotional, and psychosocial status are identified and reported to the Charge Nurse promptly

Occupational Exposure
  • Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated
  • Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues

Required Skills
  • NYS Nursing Assistant Certification - Required | Minimum 1 year
  • One (1) year of experience in a long-term care (LTC) or CNA capacity - Required | Minimum 1 year
