Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) - Full-Time | Day & Night Rotation
Shift Details
  • Full-time, 3x12-hour shifts per week
  • Day and/or night rotation required
  • Every other weekend required
  • Holidays required
  • All contracts must run through the holiday season — end date flexible
  • Local candidates accepted
  • CNAs accepted
  • Must be willing and able to float to a sister facility if needed

Position Overview
  • The Nursing Assistant performs various patient care activities and related non-professional services necessary to address the personal need and comfort of patients in an environment that promotes dignity and healing
  • This is an entry-level support role requiring basic skills

Key Responsibilities
  • Performs vital signs and activities of daily living (ADLs) as outlined on the plan of care
  • Assists with hourly rounding and documents care rendered per guidelines
  • Meets nutrition needs of patients as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Performs meal delivery, sets up trays and adaptive equipment; assists with feeding and distributes nourishments while honoring patient choices
  • Properly documents per policy, protocol, and procedure
  • Maintains patient comfort and safety as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures
  • Turns and positions patients, provides skin care, immediately answers call lights/alarms, places mats, and positions low beds
  • Ensures rehabilitation needs are met as outlined in the care plan and in accordance with policies and procedures, including ROM, ambulation, transfers, proper body alignment, and use of assistive devices
  • Documents rehab activities per guidelines
  • Identifies changes in patient physical and emotional status and reports changes promptly to the nurse
  • Appropriately participates in shift changeover communication, providing complete and relevant information about patients for whom care was provided

Age-Specific Care Requirements
  • Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit
  • Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development across the life span
  • Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret information needed to identify each patient's age-specific requirements
  • Must be able to provide care for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient groups

Behavior & Professional Standards
  • Demonstrates behaviors consistent with Healing Environment principles of being professional, communicating effectively, and attending to the environment
  • Work behavior must ensure safety, promote dignity, respect, and well-being, and exemplify healthy relationships
  • Must demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, computer literacy, and a customer service/patient-centered focus
  • Must possess a basic knowledge of healthcare and/or the nursing assistant role

Occupational Exposure
  • Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated
  • Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • BLS certification required through AHA/RQI
  • Minimum high school graduate or equivalent education; post-secondary education in Health or Human Services required
  • 1-2 years of customer service and/or health-related experience in Med/Surg, ED, or ICU
