CNA - Per Diem | Long-Term Care
Shift Details
- All contracts must run through the holiday season
- Must complete full-day orientation on a Tuesday or Thursday
- Shift length: 7.5 hours
- Minimum shift requirement: 24 hours (or 3 shifts) worked within a 4-week period
- At least 2 shifts per 4-week period must be on weekends
Position Overview
- Per Diem CNA role requiring 24 hours monthly, including 2 weekend shifts
- Performs direct and indirect designated resident care under the direction of licensed nursing personnel
- Scope of practice is defined by certification
- Must demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on the assigned unit
- Must demonstrate knowledge of the principles of growth and development of the life span
- Must possess the ability to assess data reflective of the patient's status and interpret appropriate information needed to identify each patient's age-specific requirements
- Provides care for adult and geriatric patient groups
Job Functions Activities of Daily Living (ADLs)
- Resident ADL needs are met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures within a safe and comfortable environment
- Includes hygiene, grooming, dressing, incontinence/catheter care, elimination/toileting needs, turning/positioning, skin care, and related tasks
- Documentation completed per protocol
- Resident environment and safety maintained as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures
- Includes answering call lights and alarms promptly
- Provision of safety mats and low beds
- Restraint use under the direction of Nursing
- Maintaining cleanliness of the unit
- Behavior and fall prevention
- Appropriate use of and monitoring for malfunctioning equipment
- Documentation completed per protocol
- Resident nutritional needs met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures
- Includes meal delivery, tray preparation, adaptive equipment, feeding, and nourishments
- Resident preferences and choices shall be honored
- Documentation completed per protocol
- Resident rehabilitative (restorative and maintenance) needs met as outlined in the plan of care and in accordance with policies and procedures
- Includes range of motion, ambulation, transfers, proper body alignment, and use of assistive devices
- Documentation completed per protocol
- Resident rights, refusals, and concerns are reported to the Charge and/or Supervising Nurse in a timely fashion in accordance with policies and procedures
- Changes in resident physical, emotional, and psychosocial status are identified and reported to the Charge Nurse promptly
Occupational Exposure
- Occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens is reasonably anticipated
- Required tasks involve potential contact with blood, body fluids, or tissues
Required Skills & Qualifications
- NYS Nursing Assistant Certification
- BLS certification (AHA or RQI)
- Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a Long-Term Care (LTC) or CNA capacity
- Must be licensed for 1 year or more
