Anesthesia Technologist Position
Anesthesia Technologist Schedule Details
  • Monday - Friday ONLY, no call, no holidays, no weekends
  • 9am - 5:30pm with some late nights until 7pm as needed (based on procedures)
Specific Responsibilities
Under limited direct supervision:
20% - Patient Care Assistance
  • Assist in the care of patients undergoing anesthesia including: preparation of anesthesia equipment prior to the patient's arrival, placement of anesthesia monitors, ensuring the cleanliness of anesthesia equipment, ensuring availability of specialized anesthesia equipment and supplies and the set-up of medications and supplies where applicable
  • Continuously communicate with anesthesiologists, residents, CRNAs and anesthesia technologists to ensure their needs are met throughout the day
  • Assist clinicians with difficult intubations and the placement of central line catheters
20% - Advanced Surgical Support
  • Operate the cell-saver machine, keep track of lab reports, and participate in cardiac, liver transplant, vascular, thoracic, trauma, and other advanced surgical cases
  • Work directly with service-specific faculty Division Chief of designated specialty
  • Provide on-call coverage
20% - Equipment Management
  • Provide primary support in ensuring that the anesthesia equipment is in good working order and preventive maintenance is completed
  • Set up and operate sophisticated equipment and perform advanced troubleshooting
  • Serve as the key resource person in using and maintaining specialized equipment
15% - Training and Development
  • Assist the Chief Anesthesia Technologist in the development and implementation of in-service training programs
  • Assist in training of staff in the roles and responsibilities of an anesthesia technologist
15% - Equipment Setup and Troubleshooting
  • Perform anesthesia equipment set up and troubleshooting such as testing Infusion pumps, nerve stimulators, defibrillators, and transport monitors, calibrating anesthesia machines, and attaching fiberoptic bronchoscopes to the video monitor
5% - Room Setup and Support
  • Set-up rooms between cases, set-up carts throughout the day and provides full service set up at the end of the day
  • Work with other hospital units to ensure availability of specialized anesthesia equipment
  • Perform set-up and support of ectopic procedures for anesthesia care ensuring proper equipment is in place for out-of-OR procedures
5% - Supervisory Support
  • Provide back up to shift supervisor in his/her absence due to vacation or illness
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Shift Supervisor, Chief Anesthesia Technologist, or Operations Manager
Required Qualifications
  • Two years of experience as an Anesthesia Tech
  • BLS
Preferred Qualifications
  • A four year college education, including related technical training; or a two year college education which included technical training closely related to this position and two years of experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Certification by the registry of the American Society of Anesthesia Technologists or other nationally recognized professional certifying body preferred
Skills
  • Two (2) Year's Experience highly desired
  • BLS preferred (American Heart Association ONLY)
