Operating Room (Scrub) Technician Position Schedule Details
- Future Start Date Assignment with flexible timing
- Start Date subject to change, as early as 12/15 - as late as 1/12
- 4x9 hour days
- Call rotations and weekends as needed
- BLS (through AHA or RQI specifically) required
- OR Tech certification required
- Participate as a team member in the planning and implementation of nursing care for each patient
- Work with medical, nursing, and ancillary services to provide safe patient care
- Demonstrate a professional, courteous manner
- Handle confidential information with discretion for the patient and their family
- Clean instruments and ensure sterility is achieved by utilizing appropriate procedures
- Recognize successful completion of steam autoclave and automated high level disinfectant units
- Select equipment and supplies in an organized manner, based on Surgical Procedure
- Prepare instrument sets according to preference lists, patient history, and age
- Utilize supplies cost-effectively
- Handle and operate sophisticated equipment
- Detect and readily adapt to changes in surgical procedures
- Create and maintain sterile field
- Maintain aseptic technique at all times in accordance with AORN Standards
- Open and handle sterile supplies
- Perform proper surgical hand scrubbing
- Don sterile gown and gloves
- Set up sterile field
- Receive sterile supplies from the circulator
- Assist in proper draping of the patient
- Initiate corrective measures when break in sterile technique occurs
- Work with medical and nursing staff in providing safe patient care
- Use care with sharps to prevent injury or contamination
- Follow policies and procedures for counts and maintain adequate count of all countable items on the sterile field
- Initiate proper protocol when counts are incorrect
- Accurately draw up medication with proper labeling of all solutions and syringes
- Serve as a preceptor and mentor to new employees
- Assess surgical environment for safety, cleanliness, and compliance with regulatory and organizational standards
- Support a state of continual service readiness
- Ensure a clean, safe, and orderly work and care environment
- AHA BLS certification required
- OR Tech Licensure/Certification required
- 1 year experience required
