About the Role:
Are you a compassionate, skilled Occupational Therapist looking for a fulfilling contract opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of elderly and frail individuals? In this role, you will plan and implement tailored therapy programs to restore function, alleviate pain, and prevent disability in participants recovering from disease, injury, or loss of body parts.
We are offering a contract position for a minimum of 2 months, with the possibility of extension. This is a great opportunity to expand your skills, work alongside a dedicated healthcare team, and make a difference in a supportive environment.
What You’ll Gain & Experience:
- Professional Growth: Continue developing your clinical expertise and expand your career within a collaborative, interdisciplinary team environment.
- A Supportive Environment: Work closely with a network of healthcare professionals, including physicians, nurses, and social workers, to create holistic, person-centered care plans.
- Meaningful Impact: Help participants regain independence, improve quality of life, and thrive despite health challenges.
- Competitive Benefits: Enjoy comprehensive medical benefits (including dental and vision), a retirement plan, and other perks that prioritize your well-being.
- Work-Life Balance: Full-time schedule (35 hours per week, Monday to Friday), with predictable hours (9:00 AM to 5:00 PM).
Your Responsibilities:
- Personalized Therapy: Evaluate participants referred by providers, collaborate on treatment plans, and deliver effective therapy both at a PACE site and in home or nursing home settings.
- Documentation & Reporting: Complete evaluations, progress notes, and treatment summaries in compliance with policy and procedures.
- Collaborative Care: Join care plan meetings with the interdisciplinary team and share insights to ensure the best outcomes for participants.
- Continuous Learning: Stay at the top of your field by participating in ongoing education, seminars, and in-service training.
- Clinical Leadership: Provide guidance and mentorship to Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) students and peers, contributing to the professional development of the next generation of OT professionals.
- Hands-On Involvement: Recommend appropriate adaptive equipment for participants and play a key role in their discharge planning.
What You Bring to the Organization:
- Education: A Bachelor’s Degree in Occupational Therapy from an accredited institution.
- Experience: At least 1 year of experience as an Occupational Therapist is preferred. Experience with the elderly or frail populations is highly valued, but not required—we’ll provide necessary training if needed.
- Licensing: Current licensure as a Registered Occupational Therapist in New York State.
- Skills:
- Ability to effectively use OT modalities and equipment.
- Comfort with traveling to participants’ homes and other locations for evaluations and therapy.
- Strong documentation skills, with experience in electronic medical records (EMRs) such as Care Compass preferred.
